Tyler Alan Wood, 15, of Rockport, died Aug. 2 at Maine Medical Center as the result of an automobile accident.
Born in Rockport on May 27, 1999, he was the son of Brooke (Ryan) Borden and Jamie A. Wood. Tyler grew up in Rockport, attended Rockport Elementary School, Camden-Rockport Middle School, and was a member of the Class of 2017 at Camden Hills Regional High School.
Tyler was looking forward to getting his driver’s license and had made the decision on his own to become an organ donor. Because of this decision, many people will benefit from his gift.
A natural athlete, Tyler played basketball and baseball in elementary school. In high school, he was a proud member of the Camden Hills wrestling team competing in the 138-pound class. His tenacious spirit and self-discipline enabled him to always do his best. His encouragement and support of his teammates and coaches will be greatly missed. As a ninth-grader, Tyler took the time to mentor and work with the middle school team.
He was also a talented wide receiver on the Windjammer football team. At Camden Hills, he enjoyed learning about small engine, automobile mechanics and auto body work through the Mid-Coast School of Technology in Rockland.
Tyler was a high-energy person and was always up for a challenge. At the age of 8, he learned how to do Sudoku puzzles and taught his teacher how to play. “Fast and Furious” movies were his favorite and he loved to go salt and fresh water fishing. He also enjoyed four-wheeling and playing Xbox.
Tyler had a wide-circle of friends and liked to spend time with them. With his charming personality and contagious smile, he easily made new friends where ever he went.
He was predeceased by great-grandfather, Clifford Olson.
He is survived by parents, Jamie and Morgan Wood of Nobleboro, and Brooke and Shaun Borden of Rockport; sisters, Gillian Wood, Nicole Borden, and Eliza Wood; brothers, Garidyn Wood, and Josh Borden; maternal grandparents, Joe and Ginny Ryan, Kim and William Hraba, Laurel Taylor and Myron Benner; paternal grandparents, Valerie and Spencer Wood, Daryl Zimmerman and Cindy Chapman; great-grandparents, Joseph and Barbara Ryan, Nina Olson, Sharon Wright, Annie Wood and Bob Newbert; uncle, Matthew Wood; aunts, Katelyn Ryan, Tara Wood, Melanie Zimmerman, and Dyani Smith; as well as several great-aunts and many cousins.
