Vera R. Wright, 81, of Woolwich, died March 8 at a Brunswick hospital.
She was born on Feb. 19, 1928, a daughter of Alton J. and Florence E. Smith. She graduated from Lincoln Academy and on June 5, 1948 she married Herbert F. Wright and they resided in Woolwich.
She was a long time member of Missing and Lost Maine Associated Children, The Red Hat Society Divine Divas of Woolwich, Nequasset Trailblazers and the First Baptist Church of Woolwich.
She enjoyed her flower garden, snowmobiling and especially time spent with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was outgoing and always had a smile for everybody.
She was predeceased by her son, William H. Wright on Aug. 11, 1998; grandson, William “Billy” T. Wright in 1991; two brothers, Daniel Smith and Walter Smith; and two sisters, Ethel (Louise) Gilmore and Hazel Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Herbert F. Wright of Woolwich; son, Gary Wright and wife Mary of Woolwich; daughter-in-law, Pamela Wright of Woolwich; sister, Evelyn Coffin of Bath; three grandchildren, Melinda Turner, Wilbur Wright and Rachel Green; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tues., March 10 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. Funeral service 2 p.m. on Wed., March 11 at the Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Tuck officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the First Baptist Church of Woolwich Parish Hall. Burial will be in the spring at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Woolwich.
