Vernon F. Lewis, 84, of Trevett, died Jan. 9 at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor. He was born Dec. 24, 1925 in Boothbay Harbor, a son of Eugene and Susan Dunton Lewis. Vernon grew up on Barter’s Island and attended local schools.
Vernon worked as a laborer for many companies including Sample’s Shipyard, Elbridge Giles Construction and at Branch’s summer resort in Boothbay Harbor. He enjoyed talking and working on his CB and ham radios. He also enjoyed working on electronic equipment. He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Donna Brewer Lewis and by a son, Scott Lewis.
He is survived by three daughters, Vickie Campbell of Boothbay, Sue Lewis of Michigan, and Betsy Morse of Wiscasset; son, Brett Lewis of Barter’s Island; sisters, Priscilla Holmes of Boothbay Harbor, Florence Barter of Barter’s Island, and Cora Lowery of Boothbay Harbor; brother, Vincent Lewis of Barter’s Island; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Private family graveside service will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery in Boothbay Harbor in the spring.
