Verona Elaine “Roni” Pinkham Lewis, 80, of Dresden, died at her home on March 27.
She was born in Richmond on Jan. 29, 1928, the daughter of Edward C. and Mildred (Hodgdon) Pinkham.
Verona graduated from Richmond High School in 1945. She then married Melvin Lewis on Aug. 7, 1949.
She traveled for many years with her husband with the Air Force. They retired to Dresden in 1966.
In her younger years, she loved taking camping and fishing trips with her husband and children. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, reading, crafts and crosswords. Her family and her Lord Jesus Christ were the center of her life. Verona was a lady of faith and prayer and had a beautiful, daily relationship with her Lord and Savior; she shared his love with others, and this was evident to all who knew and loved her. She was a member of Church of Christ, Augusta.
She was predeceased by brothers Edward C. Pinkham Jr. and Clayton N. Pinkham; and sister Annie Louise.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Melvin; son, Peter J. Lewis and wife Patty Sue of Dresden; daughter, Deborah A. Lewis McAllister and husband Jeffrey of West Bath; granddaughters, Chelsie Irene and Kiara Elaine Lewis of Dresden, and Rebekka A. McAllister Jackson and husband Aron of Charlotte, N.C.; grandson, Justin M. McAllister of Norfolk, Va.; great-granddaughter, Alaynah B. Jackson of Charlotte; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Verona’s request, services at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery will be private.
