Veronica Mary Bettencourt Pierce, 90, of Damariscotta, passed away Sept. 14 at Miles Memorial Hospital.
Born July 23, 1920 in Boston, Mass., she was the oldest of three children of Albert S. and Anastasia Baker Bettencourt.
Raised in Medford, Mass. where she met and married her husband John in 1939.
Veronica, known to everyone as Roni, and her husband lived in Norton, Mass. where she joined the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a long time member of Hope Chapter in Attleboro, Mass. where she served as Worthy Matron several times.
In 1996 she moved to Waldoboro where she joined the Lake View Chapter of O.E.S in Jefferson and was also active in the Senior Citizens of Waldoboro.
Roni was a member of Saint Andrew’s Church in Newcastle.
She enjoyed her family and friends and had a love of reading.
For the past two years, Roni had resided at Hodgdon Green in Damariscotta.
She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Claire; and brother, Leo.
Surviving her is her son John (Jack) and wife Sandy and granddaughter, Courtney.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
