Virginia Ann Burns Atkinson, 69, formerly of Friendship and Standish, passed away at the Maine Medical Center in Portland on Nov. 4 after a brief illness.
Ginny was born in Boston, Mass. on Sept. 2, 1941, daughter of the late Wilfred I. and Rosalie M. Burns. The family moved to Friendship in 1946. She graduated from Waldoboro High School in the class of 1959. In 1960, she married Bruce David Atkinson of Waldoboro. They were married for 12 years. Her family brought her much joy. Ginny had a kind heart and enjoyed the people who touched her life.
She is survived by sons, Scott Atkinson of Royal Oak, Mich. and Trevor Atkinson and wife Tiara of Smyrna, Ga.; brother, Richard Burns and wife Patty of Friendship; and two grandchildren.
Private graveside service will be held at the Harbor Cemetery in Friendship.
