Virginia Fales Mank, 99, of Union, passed away peacefully March 12 at the Full Circle Farm in Union with her loving caretaker, Audrey Mercier at her side.
Virginia was born June 24, 1910 in Worcester, Mass., a daughter of the late Arthur Frederick and Eva Alice Lucas Fales.
She was a graduate of Oxford High School and the Gardner School of Nursing. She was the Head Nurse at Gardner Hospital for 38 years.
She was married to Llewellyn Mank for 61 years. In 1956 she retired and moved to Union.
In 2006, at the age of 96, Virginia was presented with the Boston Post Cane for being the oldest resident in the town of Union.
She attended the United Methodist Church, belonged to the Grace Episcopal Church in Oxford, Mass., was a Life Member of Orient Chapter of Eastern Star, the Methodist United Woman’s Association, Senior Citizens of Union, Master’s Point Association, Meenahga Grange and a Seventh Degree Member of the Grange.
She was predeceased by her husband, Llewellyn Mank, one sister, and one brother.
Survivors include her sister, Doris Carrahers of Oxford, Mass.; nephew, Alvin Mank and wife Dora of San Jose, Cal.; step-niece, Eva Burgess Newell and husband Henry of Union and Melbourne, Fla. who provided loving support.
A graveside service will be announced in the spring.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Waldoboro.
