Virginia “Ginny” Joan Knight, 85, passed away Nov. 12 at her home with her daughters after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on May 18, 1926 in Bangor, the daughter of Harvey Bolduc and Harriet Mary LaPlante.
Ginny lived near Christmas Cove and was often seen walking with her daughter, Mona. She started her career as a beautician and worked for Ed Tukey in Damariscotta. She worked at the Coveside Inn for many years and as caretaker for a number of cottages on the island. She also wrote the South Bristol News column for The Lincoln County News in the 1970s.
She enjoyed gardening, and nature walks and had a great love for animals. She was known for bringing many stray dogs and cats in and giving them a loving home through the years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold J. Knight on Sept. 10, 1986; sister, Evelyn Cote; brothers, Fredrick and Bernard Bolduc; daughter, Cynthia Ann Osier; great-grandchildren, Dallas Faulkner and Angelina and Joshua Wakefield; mother-in-law, Nathalie Knight; father-in-law, Clyde Knight; sister-in-law, Marilyn Seiders; and son-in-law, Clyde Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Elaine and husband Leslie Crockett; son, Leo and wife Nancy Osier; daughter, Leona Fisher; son, James W. Osier; daughter, Cynthia and husband David Quintal; daughter, Mona L. Knight; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pauline and husband Paul Farrin; brother-in-law, Clayton and wife Edna Knight; and sister-in-law, Louise and husband Wendall Lewis.
A private service with her sons and daughters will be held near the water at Christmas Cove.
