Virginia Louise Swett, 81, died Nov. 2 at her home in Boothbay Harbor. She was born Nov. 9, 1924 on Swans Island, a daughter of Harold and Cora Staples Page. She grew up in Edgecomb and attended local schools.
She married Edward B. Swett on Oct. 27, 1945. Virginia and Ed lived in various places during his military career until his retirement in 1968. She was a homemaker who made her husband and her children her first priority, even before herself.
In retirement Virginia and Ed enjoyed buying and selling antiques and traveling. She also enjoyed working in her gardens and her yard. The love Virginia and Ed had for each other was tremendous. She had a hard work ethic and enjoyed simple pleasures.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Leon Page and Harold Page; three sisters, Shirley Page, Delphine Redlon and Mildred McFarland; and grandson, Ryan Field.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edward B. Swett of Boothbay Harbor; daughters, Dorinda Webster and husband Phillip and Delicia Powers and husband Michael, all of Boothbay; brother Warren Page and wife Ella of Kokadjo; sister Lucille Lang and husband John of Livingston, Tex.; grandchildren, Lauren Brown and husband of Boothbay, Phil Webster and wife Heather of Wiscasset, Jennifer Webster of Boothbay, Cindy Field and husband Chris of Boothbay, Joanna Powers of Portland, and Raymond Powers of Boothbay; great grandchildren Page and Kylie Brown, both of Boothbay, Russell Webster of Wiscasset and Jorja Field of Boothbay; sisters-in-law, Lillian Page of Wiscasset and Lynnette Page of Boothbay; and brother-in-law Arthur McFarland.
Graveside service 11 a.m., Fri. Nov. 10 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay. Al Roberts will officiate.
