Virginia “Ginny” M. Morton, 81, of New Harbor, passed away Sept. 21 at her daughter’s home in Round Pond.
Born on Oct. 24, 1931 in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Margurite A. (Weeks) McCurda. She grew up in Newcastle and Nobleboro and attended Lincoln Academy. She moved to New Harbor in 1961.
Over the years, she worked in local fish factories in Boothbay and Round Pond. Her home was a shrine to Elvis Presley and she was an avid collector of Presidential Coins including Indian Heads.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Mark Morton; and siblings, Marion Webber, Ernest McCurda, John McCurda, Charles McCurda, and Pearl Young.
She is survived by her children, Sclinda A. Bailey and husband Gordon of Bristol, Henry A. Morton and wife Sharon of Windsor, Fayette D. Morton of Brunswick, Calvin J. Morton of California, Terry M. Chase of Texas, Beth M. Geyer and husband Norman of New Harbor, and Lisa M. Low and husband Chuck of Bristol; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a graveside service at 10 a.m., on Fri., Sept. 27 in the New Harbor Cemetery.
