Virginia Pratt Stevens Whitney, 88, of Damariscotta, passed away the evening of Nov. 7, at the Bolton Manor in Marlborough, Mass. The daughter of Charles P. and Maisie (Huff) Taber, she was born in Bath, June 22, 1920.
A graduate of Cony High School, Augusta, in the Class of 1938, Virginia went on to earn her degree from Bryant-Stratton Business College in Boston in 1940. For many years she served as the office manager of Dr. Frank O. Avantaggio, in Damariscotta. She was a member of the Wells-Hussey Post of the American Legion Auxiliary, Damariscotta, past Matron of the O.E.S. and while spending winters in Florida, was active in the Good Shepard Methodist Church in Ft. Myers.
Virginia was predeceased by her first husband, Linwood A. Pratt, Esq. in 1966; her second husband Raymond A. Stevens in 1978; and her third husband Justin M. Whitney in 1991.
She leaves her children, Susan Ramsay of Shrewsbury, Mass., Linda Trask of Dover, N.H., and Judith Pearson of Tampa, Fla.; stepson, R. Roy Stevens of Bradenton, Fla.; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Virginia will be laid to rest, with a graveside service, 2:30 p.m., Fri., Nov. 14, at the Hillside Cemetery, Damariscotta, with Pastor Rick Newell officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Strong Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 612 Main St., Damariscotta.
