Virginia S. Morton, 96, of Waldoboro, died July 7 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta. Born on May 4, 1916 in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Marcia V. (Parker) Shattuck.
Mrs. Morton was a graduate of Lincoln Academy as a member of the class of 1933, and attended the Broad Bay Congregational Church of Waldoboro. She enjoyed collecting stamps and coins. Mrs. Morton will be remembered by her family and friends as a very caring person who was loved by all who knew her. She loved taking care of her family and neighbors.
On Oct. 31, 1937 she married Aaron O. Willey Sr. who died Nov. 5, 1972. On Dec. 19, 1978 she married her second husband Geer Morton Sr. who died on May 19, 1986.
Mrs. Morton is survived by a son, Aaron “Ted” O. Willey Jr. and wife Linda of Newcastle; sister, Ava Keene and husband Richard of Bremen; step-daughter, Molly Evans and husband Daniel of California; step-sons, Geer Morton Jr. and wife Pat of California, and Rufus Short of Ohio; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to join her family for a graveside service at 2 p.m., Mon., Aug. 6 at the Sheepscot Cemetery on King’s Highway in Newcastle.
