Wallace J. Moody, 73, of Union, passed away at his home on April 29. He was born on June 19, 1939 in Union, the son of the late James and Muriel Graves Moody. He grew up in Union and attended local schools, graduating from Union High School in 1958.
He spent time in the Army Reserve, Air Force Reserve, and the Army National Guard. He worked for the family business for many years and eventually branched out and began work for himself as a general contractor. In his later years he would work for George C. Hall where he would operate equipment and drive the gravel truck to various job sites throughout the region.
He was active in various Masonic Lodges throughout Knox County, serving as a member and past master of Union Lodge #31, St. Paul Lodge in Rockport, and Mt. Olivet Lodge in Washington. He was active in both the Scottish Rite and York Rite bodies of the Masons. One of his many talents was that he could remember all of his friends’ and family’s birthdays and took pride in wishing them a happy birthday.
He is survived by his brother Edgar Moody and companion Janet Winslow of Union; nieces, Beth Moore and husband Mike, and Dawn Daggett and husband Keith; grandnieces, Megan and Jordan Morse, and Chelsea, Sara, Emily, and Anna Daggett; aunt, Marie Graves; and cousins, Gerald, Janie, Cynthia, Inza, Darice, Theresa, Bruce, and Eric.
Graveside Masonic service 10 a.m., Sat., May 11 at the Lakeview Cemetery in Union.
