Walter S. “Bobby” Bowden, 51, of Windsor, passed away Aug. 21 at his home following a long, courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Augusta on Aug. 12, 1962, a son of the late George W. and Dora A. (Tibbetts) Bowden.
Bobby grew up and lived most of his life on the Hilton Road in Whitefield. In the fall of 2006, he moved to Somerville where he had built a new home for his family. He always enjoyed the outdoors, and absolutely loved to hunt and fish. Bobby answered to several nick-names, but he was best known, and will always be fondly remembered, for his big, curly head of hair!
Bobby was predeceased by his parents, George and Dora; and his brothers, Zane, Theodore, and John.
He is survived by wife Deanna (Daignault-Scott), of Windsor; son, Scott A. of Machias; daughter, Megan M. and newborn grandson, Isaiah S. Dufresne of Hartland; step-daughter, Rebecca D. of Windsor; brothers, Charles of Jefferson, Bradley and wife Shari, and George, Jr., all of Whitefield; sisters, Sally and husband Terry Blair, Carol and husband Arthur Cooley, Lois “Bunny” and husband David Brown, all of Whitefield; and Gladys Lewis of South China; mother-in-law, Gloria Arnold of Stratton; sisters-in-law, Elaine Brackett of Auburn and Charlene and husband Aladin Castrence of Pensacola, Fla.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services for Bobby will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 30 at the Calvary Bible Baptist Church, 150 Grand Army Rd., North Whitefield. A private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Staples Funeral Home, PO Box 598, Gardiner, ME 04345, to help defray funeral expenses.
