Wendell F. Parlin Sr., 73, of Jefferson, died Sept. 19 at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Jefferson on April 15, 1939, the son of John H. Parlin and Laura (Sprague) Parlin.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Parlin was employed as a carpenter by Bath Iron Works for 14 years. He was previously employed as a carpenter by various building contractors for many years.
Mr. Parlin was a member of United Baptist Church of South Jefferson.
Wendell was an avid deer hunter and loved to tell a good deer story. He was a good-natured person with many friends. Wendell enjoyed country music, dancing, playing cards, going out to eat with Rose, and being with his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; one brother; one sister; two step-sisters; and six step-brothers.
Surviving is his wife, Rose M. (Ring) Parlin of Jefferson; sons, Wendell F. Parlin Jr. of Greenville and Mark A. Parlin of Windsor; brothers, John Parlin Jr. of Waldoboro and Edward Parlin and wife Norma of Jefferson; sisters, Mildred Rood of Windsor and Hester Merrifield and husband Lyman of Jefferson; grandchildren, Steven Parlin, Shannon Parlin, Courtney Parlin and Benjamin Parlin; step-grandson, Tyler Ormonde; great-grandchildren, Tucker Morton, Jacob Parlin and Shelby Parlin; brother-in-law, Charles Ring and wife Lenore; sister-in-law, Ethel Turcotte; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no public visiting hours. Funeral service 3 p.m., Sat., Sept. 22 at United Baptist Church, 495 South Clary Rd., Rt. 215, Jefferson. Burial will follow in Shepherd Cemetery, Augusta Rd., Rt. 32, Jefferson.
