Wesley Lincoln Somerville, 83, died on Jan. 13 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Plymouth, Mass. He was the devoted husband of Janette Susan (Bailey) Somerville of Plymouth, Mass.
Born in Milton, Mass. on Jan. 1, 1934, he was the son of the late Arthur and Jeanette (Lincoln) Somerville. He was educated in Cohasset, Mass., a graduate of Cohasset High School, Class of 1952. He attended Northeastern University before entering the U.S. Navy where he served during the Korean War. Upon returning home from the service, Wesley began working for the U.S. Navy Department of Defense in Boston, Mass. and Quincy, Mass. He resided in Damariscotta for nearly 20 years and retired from the Department of Ship Building Division of the U.S. Navy at the Bath Iron Works in Bath.
He was an avid sports fan and longtime member of the Chetolah Yacht Club of Long Pond, Plymouth, Mass. He was strongly devoted to his family and friends alike. Wesley will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Besides leaving his wife of 60 years, Janette, he is survived by children, John and wife Janice of Damariscotta, Allan and friend Raquel McAninch of Cohasset, Mass., and Douglas and wife Lynn of Cohasset, Mass; and grandchildren, Matthew of Fairfield, Conn., Daniel of Providence, R.I., and Andrew of E. Providence, R.I.
At Wesley’s request, funeral services will be private. A celebration of life will be held in July at the family residence on Long Pond, Mass.
