Wilbur P. Fiske, 77, of Damariscotta, died June 5 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. He was born on May 17, 1932 in Worcester, Mass., a son of Reuben and Alice Potter Fiske. Will grew up in Upton, Mass. and attended local schools. He was a 1954 graduate of M.I.T. with a B.S. in Engineering. While at M.I.T. he became a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He was a captain in the U.S. Air Force and worked in Research and Development at Hanscom Air Force Base. Will worked most of his career in sales and marketing in the Mid Atlantic and Northeast for Warren Petroleum based in Tulsa, Okla.
Will was very active in several town government positions where ever he lived. He was a member of the Chemists Club of New York City. He was member of the Newtown, Conn. Rotary Club and the Damariscotta-Newcastle Rotary Club for many years. He was a loyal Boston Red Sox fan, matchbook cover collector, avid reader, and especially loved to travel with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Hersey Fiske of Damariscotta; daughter, Lisa Fiske Bradshaw and husband John of Nashua, N.H.; sons, Eric Potter Fiske and wife Tammie of Middlebury, Conn. and Kirk B. Fiske of Waterbury, Conn.; brother, Dr. Richard A. Fiske and wife Stasia of Redding, Cal.; and grandchildren, Kristen Joerger of New York, N.Y., Stephanie Joerger of Nashua, N.H., Catherine Fiske of Middlebury, Conn., and Ethan Fiske of Middlebury, Conn.
Visiting hours 4-6 p.m., Sun., June 14 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Memorial service 11 a.m., Mon., June 15 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Glidden St., Newcastle. The Rev. Frank C. Strasburger will officiate. Burial will be in Upton, Mass. at a later date.
