William (Bill) R. Wile Sr., 63, of Waldoboro, died peacefully at Togus Veterans Hospital in Augusta on Feb. 24 of many complicated health problems.
He was born in Ipswich, Mass. and moved to Waldoboro when he was 15. He was the first class to graduate from Medomak Valley High School in 1969. After he graduated, he enlisted in the U.S Army and served from 1969-1972. After the Army he worked at several welding businesses, his pride was Washburn & Doughty in East Boothbay where he built many tug boats.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors; often times found fishing with many of his friends. He went on a weekend-long fishing trip up north with many friends every year. Even if he didn’t catch anything, he still enjoyed the time with friends. He also enjoyed hunting, reading NRA magazines, watching cartoons, and listening to river dance music on Sunday evenings. He enjoyed spending time with all of the grandbabies, whether it was going fishing, going for car rides, or just staying in and watching cartoons on TV. He was known for his welding abilities and was recognized for it by many.
He was predeceased by his mother, Gertrude C. Wile and stepmother, Dawn Wile.
He survived by his wife, Sally Wile and their cat Tiger; father, Robie L. Wile and friend Evelyn A. Porter; children, William Wile Jr. and companion Tammy McIntyre, Crystal Earnst and husband David, and Robin Wile, all of Waldoboro; grandbabies, Chelsea Wile and boyfriend Scott Ley of Rockland, Shelbe Wile of Waldoboro, Anya Earnst of Waldoboro, Dennis Locke of Waldoboro, Ashlyn Alexander of Waldoboro, Kaitlyn Earnst of Derry, N.H., and Elaine Earnst of Waldoboro; brothers, Mark Wile Sr. and wife Jessie of Waldoboro and Steve Wile and fiancée Linda of Waldoboro; and many nieces and nephews.
Service for Bill 12 p.m., Fri., June 7 at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta, rain or shine.
