William “Bill” Ralph Achorn Sr., 47, of Liberty, passed away April 29 at his home. He was born July 8, 1963 in Rockland, to the late David Achorn and Margaret Fowler.
He was raised in Waldoboro and attended local schools. While in high school, he married his first wife Maureen Reibel, and the couple began a family in Waldoboro. He worked hard his whole life including employment at BIW as a machinist and Crowe Rope. He finally began a career he loved, working for himself specializing in the production of marine supplies, as well as decorative cedar boxes and Christmas wreathes and garlands. Bill enjoyed being his own boss.
He was a family man and loved being around the house. He was a terrific cook and made many delicious meals for family and friends. He also enjoyed having gatherings such as cookouts, Halloween parties, and family over for dinner. His favorite hobby, however, was computer technology. He was very computer savvy and friends and family often took their PCs in for him to fix. But even more so, he loved playing games on them and had co-created with Adam Tyler, The Guild of Might of The Alliance. He was also an inventor and skilled machinist, always trying to make things work easier or more efficiently. He was a true jack-of-all-trades, whether he was doing carpentry, plumbing or electrical, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t handle. He was a proud man and stood by his principles and made sure to instill these character traits in each of his children.
He was predeceased by his brother, Randall Lind.
