William Brocklesby, 77, of Naples, Fla., passed away on June 23 after a brief illness.
Bill, as he was known, was born in Long Beach, Cal. in 1936. He attended Narbonne High School in Harbor City, Cal. and Long Beach State College majoring in art and design. There he met his wife, Carol (nee) Potter and were wed in 1961. Their happy lives took them to live in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Damariscotta/Newcastle, and Naples, Fla. Their life in Damariscotta and Newcastle for 22 years from 1979 to 2001 was the best ever. Bill was the owner of the Old Maine Art Shop which moved to Main Street, Newcastle in 1992 as the Maine Art Shop.
Bill was known as a strong and gentle man who always had a smile.
Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years and many, many friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
