William Dunning Mulligan, 78, of Edgecomb, passed away March 29 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Cambridge, Mass. on May 21, 1930, he was the son of James E. and Mara E. (Dunning) Mulligan.
William graduated from Clark University in Worcester, Mass. and later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
For many years he worked for the C.F. Mueller Company where he was the New England Divisional Sales Manager. He had a lifelong love of Damariscotta Lake, and upon his retirement in 1985, he and his wife moved to the area permanently.
He was predeceased by his brothers, James and John Mulligan.
He leaves his bride of more than 56 years, Beverly E. (Walker) Mulligan of Edgecomb; children, David and Susan Johnson of Putnam, Conn., Gary Johnson of Oakland, Cal., Sharyn and Pat Patute of Waltham, Mass., Michael and Sheila Johnson of Fredericksburg, Va., Sean and Margo Mulligan of Brookfield, Mass. and Kathleen Mulligan and David Studwell of Ithaca, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two dear cousins; several nephews; and many devoted friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held in July.
