Attorney William F. Nourse, 92, formerly of Medfield, Mass. and Chamberlain, died peacefully June 1 at Avery Crossing in Needham, Mass.
Born and raised in Medfield, he was the cherished son of George and Elizabeth (Smith) Nourse. After high school, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Air Corps during WWII. William was one of four survivors aboard a 10-man crew B-24 which crashed into the Adriatic Sea returning from a mission. William was decorated with the Purple Heart, Air Medal and five Bronze Battle Stars, being honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1945. After the war, Bill attended Boston University and went on to earn his law degree from Boston University School of Law.
William practiced law for 50-plus years, first in Boston and then in Medfield. In the 1950s he served as a State Representative in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. It was at the State House that he met his wife Carlene. William later served in town offices, as selectman and moderator for Medfield. He was a member of the Charles River Masonic Lodge and the Medfield VFW. He enjoyed skiing and bicycling and was a member of the Charles River Wheelmen and the National Ski Patrol. In his youth he practiced tap dancing with his sister Jeanne.
William was the beloved husband of the late Carlene (Malloy) Nourse and the loving father of Pamela Nourse of Maine, Amanda Nourse of Brighton, Mass., Anthony Nourse of Arlington, Va. and the late Christopher Nourse. William was the dear brother of Jeanne Gavrilles of Dover, Mass., Lois Patton of Stow, Ohio, and the late George and Shirley Nourse.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 11 a.m., Tues., June 9 in the Roberts Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller St., Medfield, Mass. Burial to follow with military honors at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield, Mass. Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m., Mon., June 8 at the funeral home with Masonic services conducted at 6 p.m. Fellow Masons are invited to gather at the funeral home at 5:45 p.m.
