William J. Plossay, 84, of Nobleboro, passed away at the Togus Veterans Medical Center hospice unit on Dec. 26 after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Bill, as he was known to most, was born on Dec. 24, 1934 in North Monmouth to Frank and Valeria Plossay. Bill graduated from Monmouth Academy and then joined the U.S. Army in 1953.
Bill was predeceased by brother, Edward Plossay of Lewiston; and sister, Pauline MacDougald of Monmouth.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Plossay of Nobleboro; her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Mike Johnson; his children, Timothy Plossay and wife Lisa of Winthrop, Cindy Liebsch and husband Michael of Woodside, Calif., and Michelle Plossay Ladd of Hubert, N.C.; grandchildren, Kyle, Garrett and Brogan Plossay of Winthrop, Michael Liebsch Jr. of Woodside, Calif., Ashley Merritt of Jacksonville, N.C., and Thomas Ladd of Hubert, N.C.; great-granddaughter, Haiden Merritt of Jacksonville, N.C.; nephew, Mike Plossay of North Monmouth; nieces, Deb Kachel of Colorado Springs, Col., Suzanne Whynott of Surprise, Ariz., and Victoria Scott of Fountain, Col.; and is sadly missed by his dog, Rosie.
A Christian burial with military honors and private interment will be scheduled in the spring of 2019 at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
