William M. Rines, 81, of Alna, passed away at his home on the morning of May 10 with his family by his side. Born in Boothbay on June 15, 1930, he was the son of Harold and Madelyn (Barter) Rines.
William grew up locally attending schools here and graduating from Wiscasset Academy. After graduations, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served honorably for almost two years. After returning from the service, he worked the rest of his life as a carpenter.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, auto racing, winter camping, snowmobiling and four wheeling. He especially loved spending time with his family and having get-togethers. He was a member of the Mason’s Lincoln Lodge #3 in Wiscasset.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert Rines.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Beverly Curtis Rines; son, William “Buck” Rines and wife Cindy; daughter, Susan Moore and husband Edward; grandsons, Cory and Shawn Rines; granddaughter, Nicole Moore; great-grandson, Johnathan Rines; brother, Dave Rines and wife Harriet; sister, Judith Reed; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation was held at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home on May 14. A funeral was held on May 15 also at the funeral home. He was laid to rest in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset.
