William S. Bryant, Jr., 81, of Nobleboro, passed away May 30 at Cove’s Edge Skilled Nursing facility, following a long illness.
Born in Boston, Mass. on April 13, 1926, he was the son of William S. and Annie B. Bryant. He attended the old Longfellow School in Damariscotta Mills and graduated with honors from Lincoln Academy, class of 1944.
He was a dairy farmer, working with his father until 1962, when he went to work at the former Osram Sylvania plant in Waldoboro. He remained there for 24 years and in 1986, retired as foreman.
On Aug. 6, 1955, he married Myrtle Decker. They were married for over 51 years. William’s life was unselfishly dedicated to her care and comfort.
His interests included gardening, working on his tractor and cutting firewood. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
A longtime member of the Minnehata Fire Department, he also attended St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle.
Survivors include his wife, who resides at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta; sons, William P. and wife Rebecca, and James W. and wife Lori; grandchildren, Lindsay Bryant, Jessica Bryant and Nicholas Bryant, all of Nobleboro; as well as several cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m., Wed., June 6 at St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle, with Rev. Alfred Irving officiating.
He will be laid to rest with his family at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Newcastle.
