Willie “Billie” Louise Barnes, 78, of Wiscasset, died on June 5 at her residence.
She was born in Jesup, Ga. on Nov. 2, 1928, a daughter of Walter and Willie Lou (Thomas) Ingram.
She graduated from Wiscasset Academy in 1946, and Maine General School of Nursing in 1950.
On June 24, 1950 she married Charles A. Barnes.
She worked at Miles Hospital for a few years, then at Sanders Construction for two years. For 34 years she was employed by Family Health Associates in Damariscotta. After retiring from nursing in 1989, she worked for Roy Farmer Associates until the present time.
She was a member of the Maine State Nurses Association, American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star and the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset.
She is survived by her husband, Charles A. Barnes of Wiscasset; many nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters-in-law; and many cousins.
Funeral service 1 p.m., Sat., June 9 at the First Congregational Church in Wiscasset, with Rev. John P. Potter officiating.
Burial will follow in the Old Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Church Fellowship Hall.
