Please join the family of Yvonne Marie Lacours Goodwin Gilbert Burns Chapman Grover in celebrating the memory of a blessed life. Yvonne battled lymphoma courageously, beating it once but finally was taken to be with the Lord on Oct. 20.
Yvonne was born in Damariscotta Mills on Jan. 23, 1939, the daughter of Edward and Doris Lacours.
Yvonne went to school at Erskine Academy and the University of Maine in Augusta. Her career with The Lincoln County News spanned over a decade. She kept her passion for learning throughout her entire lifetime. She was the consummate pupil, always striving to learn a new artistry and then moving on to new challenges.
Yvonne was a student of history in its teachings and genealogy. She was a Christian and remained very active in her community. Her love of scrapbooking and the fellowship that it provided was a driving force in her life. Yvonne founded the South Bristol Historical Society, was a volunteer for VISTA in her earlier years, and was an avid member of United Bikers of Maine.
Yvonne was predeceased by her sister, Linda.
She is survived by her longtime soul mate and husband, Craig Grubby Grover; children, Audrey Moore, Gwen Powers, Robert Burns, Robin Lincoln and Roberta Benner and their spouses; siblings, Philip, Sonnie, Stanley, Gracie and Jean. Her legacy continues with her 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Yvonne will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her community.
Visiting hours 10-11 a.m., Sat., Oct. 28 at Strong Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at the West Bristol Cemetery in Walpole.
Gathering 12-4 p.m., following the service at Mobius Community Center, Bus. Rt. 1, Damariscotta.
