Zenaide Jenkins (Wooldredge) Ward, 82, of Damariscotta passed away on July 31 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Born Sept. 3, 1924, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of Albert H. and Grace Zenaide McMillan Jenkins.
She graduated from Anacostia High School in Washington, D.C. in 1942 and from Strayer Business College, Washington, D.C. in 1943. She also attended the University of Maryland for three years.
She retired as a secretary from the Naval Research Laboratory and the Coast and Geodetic Survey.
She was a very active member of her community. She was a member of, and served in several capacities for Merrymeeting Chapter, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Salt Bay Community Club, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, American Association of Retired Persons, Coast and Geodetic Survey Society, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Damariscotta Historical Society, Homescan Nielson Consumer Panel, Miles Memorial Hospital League, the Central Lincoln County YMCA, and was a volunteer for Skidompha Library and Secondhand Bookshop.
She is survived by her two children, Anne W. Bishop of South Portland, and Richard Wooldredge of Roaring River, N.C.; grandchildren, Alyssa Bishop of Brunswick, and Nicholas Wooldredge and Sarah Wooldredge both of North Carolina.
Services will be private.
