It’s spring! And with spring comes newness, changes, hope, and blessings. One of the major changes taking place at Hodgdon Green, the assisted-living home in Damariscotta, is a renovation of the kitchen, the heart of any home. New cabinets, updated appliances, replaced flooring – all will take place in the upcoming weeks. Therefore, there will be no Elijah’s Coffee House this coming Friday, June 2. When all the renovations are completed, a celebratory coffee house will be hosted by Chef Elijah. Watch The Lincoln County News for news about the grand opening.
A new resident has joined the Hodgdon Green family. Her name is Joan Murphy, a warm and delightful lady who comes from Friendship. She grew up in New Bedford, Mass., but has long considered Maine her home. Joan has been a faithful and generous caregiver and supporter. Three sons and a daughter are included in her family. A warm welcome to Hodgdon Green, Joan!
A group of hard-working, energetic students from Lincoln Academy were busy at Hodgdon Green recently. They are seniors doing community service, and the hallways and rooms and stairways gleamed with their efforts. A most sincere thank-you!
One of our dear residents passed away recently. She was Margaret “Peggy” Frantz, a quiet lady who was a joy to visit. She will be missed.
A suggestion of interest: The next time you visit Hodgdon Green, look at the walls. Yes, the walls! They are adorned with numerous preserved puzzles that residents have put together. The chief, primary, patient puzzle people are Lila Blechman and Patty Hagar. The subjects vary, but the views are outstanding.
In closing, a quote from “Attitudes of Gratitude”: “Beginning to tune in to even the minutest feelings of gratitude softens us. If we begin to acknowledge these moments and cherish them, then no matter how fleeting and tiny this good heart may seem, it will gradually, at its own speed, expand.” Experience gratitude!
