The winter of 2016-2017 is coughing up a last few attempts with snow, sleet, freezing rain, and just plain rain, with the possibility of something over the weekend – April Fool’s Day. No worries, it’s happened before and we can do this as spring is knocking on the door.
Christmas wreaths begone!
The birds are singing spring and their feathers are more colorful. Squirrels and chipmunks are peeking in and out of crevices of rockpiles, running over to fill up with seeds, and back out of sight.
The ground is baring in spots that get the most sun and soon we’ll be dazzled by the beautiful spring bulbs and such.
I, like so many others, came down with the terrible flu going around. That’s why I didn’t write last week. And this week I’m not 100 percent and finding it a little difficult to put my notes into words and sentences that make sense, if you know what I mean. So as I struggle to get something into the LCN Long Cove column due to being under the weather, I’m hit with a printer issue and have to write out by hand.
News notes: I finished a youth-size afghan for Michelle Neimi’s third baby boy on March 19, just in time for his arrival on March 21. Congratulations!
Veggies are sprouting: so far lettuce, tomatoes, and broccoli.
Cat tracker count: 29, one more to go.
We’ve visited the farm a couple of times to see the baby goats and lambs.
Steve wants to put a shout out to bees and woofers to lend a gardening hand.
Birthdays: Belated wishes to Fred B. Hatch III, March 25; Linda Sawyer, March 26; Dale Hanley-Smith, Jenna Tibbets-Hanna, and Kristen Dodge-Orne, all on March 27.
Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Edgar Thompson on March 29, Kris Weeks on March 31, and Christa Percival on April 2.
Have a good one! Stay clear of the flu!
