Hi, dear readers! Here I am, coming to you again, Marilyn Beane’s World in the last week of June with more news of my sweetheart’s and my life at Crawford Commons Assisted Living in Union.
Starting with Sunday, June 25, we watched Souls Harbor in Corinth with Pastor Rick Libby. Several uplifting songs, nice Christian singers and Pastor Libby sang a nice song before giving his sermon. It was all so encouraging and uplifting. We went to 10 a.m. break, which we do most every morning for a snack and coffee.
After a nice lunch at noon, we had an afternoon nap. After going to bed at night, I watched TV, “Bonanza” then “Texas Ranger,” back to back, two shows, falling asleep on the last show — don’t know how it ended, ha ha.
On Monday, June 26, our sweet driver took us in the big van to Lincoln Medical Partners in Waldoboro for our 10 a.m. appointment with Dr. John Marley Dickens. We was first seen by his medical assistant, sweet Tasia. Our vitals were OK. My blood pressure was better than last time. I lost a few pounds. Sweet Tasia took a test to see if I have diabetes developing.
When Dr. Dickens came in, he spoke to us all. Sweet driver was with us. Dr. Dickens checked out Elden and he seemed to be doing good. With me, my fluid is still making my weight. He wanted a home health nurse to come and massage my legs to see if that might help. He told me I am still just prediabetic, not really into diabetes.
I told him how sleepy I get. I told him about leg and foot pain and twitching in my legs. He said he believes that is caused from my neuropathy, which is numbness, hot and cold nerves crossing each other.
On the way home, we had to slow down, as several guinea hens crossed the road. She had to stop completely, making sure they all were across to the other side.
Jumping to Wednesday morning, June 28, my sweetheart woke up sick with abdominal pain. Our kind and caring young man med tech called Union Ambulance. It was paged from Knox Communication Center so it was announced over the scanner. They arrived, asked a few questions. I helped answer them. They said they could go to LincolnHealth – Miles Campus hospital in Damariscotta. They picked him up and placed him on the stretcher and away they went with him.
I kept busy while he was gone and watched the news on Channel 8. Later on, our kind and caring med tech man came in telling me Elden was on his way back. I was so pleased.
My sweetheart has a urinal tract and bladder infection. The emergency room doctor had put him on a strong antibiotic to take for 10 days.
On Thursday afternoon, June 29, a therapist came from Miles Home Health to check my legs and measure them for support stockings.
We have a new doctor coming to our Lincoln Medical Partners in Waldoboro by the name of Conklin. We already have one new one who has been there for several months by the name of Dr. Jeffrey Ball.
I had a school friend Francina Johnson Pearse who passed away a few days ago at Windward Gardens in Camden where she had been a patient for seven years.
We had heavy thundershowers this week, one on Tuesday night, which caused tree and pole damage with lines down in Thomaston and Cushing, and other areas were hit.
As you have noticed my column wasn’t printed for three weeks. The reason for that is my mail hasn’t been mailed out correctly. There has been a mail mix-up since this last administrator left. I didn’t know what I was going to do. But one of the aides has offered to mail my mail for me. I guess I’ve got to get it ready earlier and give it to her to send. I am so sorry it’s been so tardy, but it wasn’t my fault.
Bible scripture and prayer
O Lord, there is no one like you and there is no God but you, just as we have always understood. Book of Chronicles chapter 17, verse 2.
Now, dear readers, all of you afflicted, in grief, and all other trials of life, remember you are in prayer. God bless you all. Be looking for Marilyn Beane’s World next week. Crawford Commons Assisted Living, 132 Middle Road, Union, ME 04862.
