In the richness of this seemingly fallow season, life and creativity are perking at Along the Way. A line up of summer events are being discussed and finalized. It is shaping up to be a season with something for everyone. Music events, art installations, respite offerings, writing workshops, and bird walks, to name a few.
On the administrative side of things several expert folks have come together to create a new and improved Inn Along the Way website. It seems that after 11 years we have outgrown the old homemade site.
The new website will showcase the mission, vision, and character of Inn Along the Way to all who visit while providing easier, more seamless access to areas of interest. We continue to be excited by each next step in our development. And we are eager to host a site that represents the ethos, integrity, and value our board, valued volunteers, and patrons deserve.
When weather warms the ramp will be constructed for the quiet house. Likewise, the pavers for the labyrinth are waiting to be laid on the foundation that was prepared last fall. Once completed, this area will offer the public a quiet and welcomed get away to be enjoyed amid the beauty of the farm.
The next focus of our long-range site plan will be the respite cottages. Inquiries from folks in our communities, many who live alone, have made us keenly aware of the need for this next phase. They are requesting a respite stay amid community as they move towards end of life. For a number of people Inn Along the Way has become their safe and happy place, or as one person recently put it, their “nirvana.”
This phase represents the why of Inn Along the Way and one of the important aspects of this multigenerational community. Just to be seen and heard during some of life’s most challenging times can feel like wellness.
