Here’s to the students of Kevin Crafts’ and Jason Bigonia’s classes, who contributed their time and energy to a seashore cleanup on Friday, Sept. 23 at the town of Bristol’s Pemaquid Beach Park. The week of Sept. 17-24 was designated as Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup, when volunteers all over our beautiful planet dedicate a bit of time to picking up trash along the shores of the world’s oceans. The trash is collected, identified, counted, and reported back to Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas program. According to a report released last May at the United Nations Environment Assembly, in the 2015 Coastal Cleanup nearly 800,000 volunteers worldwide collected an estimated 18 million pounds of trash — the equivalent of 100 Boeing 737s!
