What can we say about Maine weather? Snow every other day for a week and then temps in the 50s. You just gotta love it? (Or hate it?) Oh well, we’ll see what Mother Nature has up her sleeve for us next. I hope the winter hasn’t created any major problems for you.
Returnables are providing a good source of income for both the transfer station budget and for outside organizations that need some help. We recently made a donation from returnables to the food pantry in Jefferson and the food pantry at the Congregational church in Newcastle. I hope this will help families in our communities. Thanks to the dedicated volunteers that make this happen.
We are still having a problem with the recycling of plastics. As I have mentioned before, plastic bags, Styrofoam containers, and film plastics do not go into any of our containers. I have put examples of these plastics on the front of our 1 and 3-7 plastic container to help you.
Don’t forget to recycle your organic materials. This is a great way to reduce the amount of materials that require disposal and trucking fees. Thanks to all of you that are participating in the program. Have a great week.
