June? Can you believe it? Schools will be closing soon for summer vacation. Summer camps are open. Vacationland is starting to live up to its billing. At the station we will be seeing more traffic, trash, and tourists. Welcome to Maine.
As you probably have observed, it seems like the wind always blows at the station. Many times we close some doors on our recycling containers to keep materials from blowing around the station. Please don’t open these doors if you find them closed.
If you are dropping off paint or electronics, it is important that you do not take them into our metal building. That building is for employees only. Leave your materials outside on the ground.
Please use the walk-in lane that we created for your safety. Anytime you compete with a vehicle for space, there is a good chance of a bad outcome.
We are still finding lots of plastics other than #2 or rigid in our plastic containers. Remember, we no longer recycle #1, #3, #4, #5, #6, or #7 plastics. Also, plastic bags, film plastic, and Styrofoam do not go in recycling containers.
Please be patient with your fellow customers of the station. Many are unfamiliar with the way things work here. We will do our best to help everything run efficiently. Thanks for your cooperation. Have a wonderful week.
