Dear readers,
Welcome to the Whitefield Library News! I’m pretty confident some of you have already heard about us and have even been to our library over the past two summers it has been open. But I’m here to tell you that things are moving forward, and we’re all very excited!
So, what is the latest news? First of all, we will open on Saturday, May 18, and we are hosting an ice cream social to celebrate. So come out and join us for some free ice cream and sign up for a free library card, available to Whitefield residents and also to surrounding towns. Take note: We’ve been able to expand our hours this year to Wednesdays 10 a.m. to noon and 5-7 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
We are adding two regularly scheduled programs at the library, one for adults and one for kids. (There are more programs to come, so stay tuned.) An adult book club will meet on the fourth Wednesday evening of each month from 6-7 p.m. beginning in June. The very first meeting will be on Wednesday, May 22 from 6-7 p.m., in order to get the club up and running. If you’ve always wanted to join a book club, just show up and join your fellow bibliophiles for a fun night out.
Our second program is for the kids. “Stories Around the World” is our Summer Saturday Story Hour Adventure, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The kickoff date is May 18 and all ages are welcome.
In closing, we’d like to invite you to our library fundraiser being held on Friday evening, May 31 at 7 p.m. Sheepscot General will be hosting the event, and the Aarondippidy Band will be performing at this benefit concert. Go to the band’s Facebook page and check out the music. Tickets are $15 for adults, and children 12 and under are free. Tickets are available for purchase at Sheepscot General or by contacting Kathy Dauphin, kathydauphin@gmail.com
Check out all upcoming events on our Facebook page!
Looking forward to seeing you at the library,

‘Stories Around the World’
Summer Saturday Story Hour Adventure is from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Join us every Saturday, starting May 18, throughout the summer as we travel around the world through stories, crafts, and fun. Record our journey from North America to India, Africa to China, and Scandinavia to Brazil on our giant world map. Help create vibrant art from the countries we explore to decorate the library walls and learn more about world geography during the Whitefield Library’s first summer story hour!
Aarondippidy concert, library fundraiser
Join us for a wide variety of musical styles, ranging from the roaring ’20s, blues, classic rock, funk, and hip hop on Friday, May 31 from 7-9 p.m. The concert (with room for dancing) will be held at our sponsor’s facilities, Sheepscot General, and will benefit the Whitefield Library & Community Center. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and teens; children 12 and under are free. Beer and pizza will be available for purchase at the store, so come a little early and make a night of it!
(The Whitefield Library & Community Center is located at 1 Arlington Lane, Whitefield. It is online at whitefieldlibrary.org.)
