As we navigate the doldrums of the news year – the time around the holidays when government offices close and interview subjects go on vacation – it seems an appropriate time for a reminder on how to pitch a news article.
If you have an idea for an article, contact the editor at joliver@lcnme.com or 563-3171.
We want local news. Some readers want us to cover state or national or international news, but we focus on what happens here in Lincoln County.
Maybe you own a new business. Maybe you know someone who has a unique story to tell. Maybe you are organizing a new and interesting event.
If you have a time-sensitive coverage request, it helps to know as soon as possible for scheduling purposes.
If you tell us about your event two weeks beforehand, we are much more likely to cover it than if you tell us two hours beforehand.
Of course, if you see breaking news unfolding, we want to know right away.
If extraterrestrials land their spacecraft in your backyard, for example, we will dispatch a reporter immediately.
While we cover as much news as we can, we cannot cover everything we or you might find worthy of coverage. In these cases, we welcome a report from you.
Simply write down the who, what, where, when, and why, take a photo, and email everything to info@lcnme.com.
We want to know what’s happening in your corner of Lincoln County. Tell us about it.
