To the Editor:
A grandmother’s love comes in many shapes and forms. It comes with laughter, love and lots of smiles. My grandmother Sandra Lane, is retiring from driving the school bus after 43 years. That right there is love. It is compassion, dedication and most of all respect.
She not only drove the school bus for many years but she is a wife, mother, grandmother, that person you knew you could talk to, and is always greatly appreciated by many people, and most of all I am blessed by God to have her as my grandmother and call her my Nana!
When I was in fifth grade at Nobleboro Central School, I remember being so excited because my grandmother was going to be my bus driver. I thought it was like totally awesome! The one thing that I admired about her when she drove the bus at NCS is she treated me like every other student she had on her school bus. She didn’t favor me because I was her granddaughter. Looking back at that now, it showed me and taught me a lot about respect and about life.
Every new school year, my grandmother always looked forward to seeing the smiling faces of the new kindergarten class. My grandmother also helped out at every school event. She was a supporter to not only the children who rode on her bus, but also the families of the children. She would go out beyond her call of duty to lend an extra hand.
As she retires I hope she knows that she has touched many lives and blessed many people. As her granddaughter, I am very proud of her. She is an amazing person with a BIG HEART with lots of love to give and share. She has made me see what life is all about.
She has given that unconditional love that a grandmother holds deep inside her heart.
