Almost anyone in the Twin Villages knows or knows of the Lee boys, Zander and his brother Whitney. They grew up here. They went to school here. If one or the other may have been rambunctious at times in their younger days, they both grew into upstanding family and businessmen.
They are, to use the phrase, “good people;” a credit to the family that raised them.
Since Zander Lee took a life-changing fall Nov. 10, it is not surprising to see friends and family coming to his aid in force. The list of thank-yous, Zander’s wife, Alison said, ‘would fill an entire page in this newspaper.’
While in the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, the Lees apparently set some kind of record for the amount of cards sent to a single patient. When they packed to come home, the cards alone filled a suitcase.
We will get a good look at the greater community coming together when the fundraisers start. In this case, the subject is a man with deep community roots but that is not necessarily required.
Time and time again, through fundraisers and bake sales and raffles and other efforts, we have seen this community come to the aid of the unfortunate, the sick, the bereaved and the down trodden.
People in Lincoln County care. They want to care.
It is one of the many good things about Lincoln County that makes this a great place to live.
