To the Editor:
I have never written a letter to the editor before but felt compelled to after riding the Rt. 66 snowmobile trail system this past weekend. I want to thank all that are responsible for an excellent job.
I have been snowmobiling for over 40 years and know this is not done in one night. With the right amount of snow over a period time it allowed these dedicated individuals to repeatedly groom to build a good base to ride on.
This was evident as the temperature rose to over 40 on Sunday and the trails held up very well. Over this past weekend I went from Nobleboro to New Harbor. The main trails and secondary were better by far than what my son and I experienced the weekend before on ITS 84 and 89 in the Strong, Phillips and Kingfield area.
David Hewitt said to us before we went that there was no need to go up country that the riding around here is the best it has ever has been. He was definitely right. While riding I kept saying to myself not to let this hard work go without being recognized in our local newspaper the only way I could.
Thank you all for a job well done and appreciated.
