To the Editor:
I’ve written letters to the editor on a variety of subjects in the past, urging folks to vote, offering commentary on issues, extending pleas to come and stand on the bridge for a variety of reasons and causes. Rallying support through an occasional public letter has been a way of speaking to many rather than just a few.
On Tuesday, July 9, the film “Consider the Conversation” will be shown at the Lincoln Theater, starting at 6 p.m., This time I’m writing to ask people to join me in an amazing realization about what connects us all. I personally feel strongly about this film, about the integrity of the message, and of the experiential perception that each person will walk away with something very valuable.
It’s not just about aging or end of life, or quality of life, or being prepared, or joy, sorrow, loss or sadness. It’s about all those things and much more.
For me, the film is about why and how I am here, what my life really means, and it begs the question, “Am I getting enough out of life?” The questions will undoubtedly be different for everyone who attends the film, and the panel for the discussion afterward will help – because they, in addition to being experts, are also human and will relate to the film and audience on that basis.
I want to believe that we “are all in this together.” Watching “Consider the Conversation” in part affirms that belief for me. What will it mean to others? It is a subject we all have touched upon in one way or another. Spending a couple of hours on such a profound, common issue seems minimal. That is why I am planning to attend and watch again, and again, and again.
