To the Editor:
As a follow-up to J.W. Oliver’s kind article of Oct. 27 on Chesapeake Safe Harbor closing down by year’s end, we neglected to include our thoughts about Safe Harbor’s all-breed boarding, and our heartfelt thanks to our countless friends in the community, and further afield, for entrusting their family pets to our care over the past 16 years.
As the two went hand in hand, the boarding has already been closed.
This is very difficult for us, but we really have no other choice. We are trying to understand that there is a season for all things and it is the time for our change now.
We certainly have our hearts full of great memories of so many wonderful pets that came to stay with us, and their families – all became more friends than business acquaintances.
As said in the recent article, we have a very caring, animal friendly community, and it has been our great good fortune to be a part of that. The kindness of all these friends towards our rescue mission has been no small thing – and that, too, is fondly and thankfully remembered. We have been truly blessed with all these fine friendships over the years.
We wish each of you and your pets a happy, healthy Holiday Season.
