To the Editor:
A spirit of joy in service permeated this community last Saturday.
Neighbors wanting to help neighbors came together forming work crews and lunch crews, organizing supplies, arranging permits for disposals, coordinating volunteers, assessing job requests and blessing all of the preparation and the workers.
On each of the 10 sites, crews of our neighbors listened to directions, picked up the appropriate tools and began removing shingles from roofs, taking out rotted window frames, putting up sheetrock, painting, clearing overgrown brush and vines, dumping and raking to control erosion, building steps and ramps and taking truckloads to transfer stations.
C.H.I.P’s Community Cares Day enables us to give our time and talent with other men and women who want to do the same to help those, who at this time, need help. What a privilege it is to see this community response.
