To the Editor:
Like many of my neighbors, I’m voting to re-elect Jonathan McKane to the state legislature from House District 51, which includes Edgecomb, Newcastle, Damariscotta, Bristol, South Bristol, and Monhegan.
As a three-term State representative, Jon has been one of the bright lights in the legislature. He takes his job very seriously and has been a valued member on the Insurance and Financial Services committee and the Marine Resources Committee.
He’s fought for changes to Maine’s health regulations to allow Mainers to buy health insurance out-of-state to provide a more competitive environment. He’s consistently voted against higher taxes and exposed, through his many columns, the gimmicks and state budget games that have been the hallmark of the current administration (see www.jonmckane.com).
Most important, he’s a voice of reason and common sense who has worked tirelessly to do what he can to see that state government is working for its citizens and not the other way around.
Jon is a good man and deserves to be re-elected.
