To the Editor:
I was so sorry to read about the resignation of Mary Bowers as Superintendent of Great Salt Bay Sanitary District, particularly since it resulted from having to work the past five years in an adversarial relationship with one of the trustees.
I always found Mary Bowers to be very knowledgeable and helpful, providing information and advice to me as a customer. Moreover, she took a great interest in educating the public, especially school children, about the work of the Water District, and the importance of protecting the Pemaquid Watershed, which provides water to our towns. Countless youngsters from Great Salt Bay School will remember the interesting and enjoyable activities Mary and her staff provided over the years: planting young trees, water testing, and learning about erosion control.
She will be missed.
