To the Editor:
My name is Carolyn Cushing Moore Mattern and I am writing about my brother Sheldon Scott Cushing “Skip” who passed away Aug. 11, 2007 from lung cancer. I am his little sister.
My brother and I both grew up in Round Pond, the children of Gail F. Moore and Lee H. Cushing. I am writing to find out if your readers would be willing to send me any of their favorite memories they might have of my brother Skip.
What got me started on this journey was that while visiting here in Maine, I saw someone from my childhood who told me the most wonderful story about her, my brother Skip and myself. It got me to thinking that there must be many, many people in this area who have some memories of my brother Skip. I would welcome anyone to write or email me with whatever you can remember of his life here in Maine. Anything would be greatly appreciated.
I plan to make a scrapbook for my daughter so she will always have something of her uncle Skip to remember him by.
My brother was a wonderful, kind, and friendly person who always had many friends. He is sadly missed by his family.
