To the Editor:
There was an article in the June 26 edition that had some incorrect information and I would like to clarify the facts.
First, the many wonderful crafters and food vendors of Olde Bristol Days will be returning to the grounds of the beautiful Fort William Henry, as they have been for so many years before, the weekend of Aug. 9 and 10.
In addition, live music is being planned throughout the weekend along with new children’s games and the annual water slide provided by volunteers of the fire department.
This portion of Olde Bristol Days is organized by the town of Bristol, volunteers throughout the community, and local business sponsors. We, along with Friends of Colonial Pemaquid, are very excited to return to this breathtaking and special historical location.
In addition, the parade will start at the former Samoset Restaurant at 10 a.m. on Saturday and the Merritt Brackett boat races are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Free parking this year will be available in the teacher’s and back parking area at Bristol Consolidated School, more free parking will be available at Pemaquid Beach, and parking is going to be permitted on one side of the street on Huddle Road and Snowball Hill Road.
Newcastle Chrysler Dodge Jeep has generously donated vans to provide free shuttle service throughout the weekend for people willing to park at the school and the beach.
The Bristol Parks Commission will again sponsor Thursday’s barbecue and Pete Collins Jazz Band on Thursday night at the beach. They are also sponsoring The Katahdin Boys and fireworks on Saturday night.
We are busy planning other various events for the week before and throughout the weekend. Please follow our website at http://www.oldebristoldays.org to see updated information and scheduling as it becomes available.
