To the Editor:
A few weeks ago it was my privilege to be involved in collecting Coats for Adults at LL Bean in Freeport. This effort was sponsored by the Merrymeeting Bay Triad, the Area Agencies on Aging and LL Bean to provide another source to help keep Maine seniors warm this winter.
In addition, LL Bean made a substantial contribution to the Keep Maine Warm fund for each coat donated. The public and organizations collecting coats to take to the donation site just inside the entrance to Beans managed to collect over 1500 coats! I was astonished at the quality of most of them. They are being distributed by the Area Agencies on Aging all over the state.
The Spectrum Generations office in Damariscotta has a good supply of coats for distribution. I urge you to call Robin at 563-1363 or 1-800-639-1553 if you know of any older person who could benefit from a nice warm coat in good condition.
Please spread the word among your church and service organizations that this service is available. We want to find a good home for all the donated coats – and keep Maine’s older adults warm this winter.

Secretary, Merrymeeting Bay Triad
