To the Editor:
In an article written about the Wiscasset Police Dept. last week, I would like to correct what I said about the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (“Wiscasset crime activity prompts police request” LCN, 8/27/09, Page 1.) I am apologizing to Sheriff Brackett and his staff for my statement about not responding to assist a Wiscasset officer. In actuality, they assist the Wiscasset Police Dept. every single day.
Due to my frustration in trying to acquire more help to get 24 hour coverage, what I said is not what I meant to say. The Sheriff’s Office has been there from day one since I started almost 23 years ago. I am sure it was the same even before that.
We are there for each other and have been willing to help when necessary. I hope my words can be forgiven. The working relationship between the two agencies I am sure will continue in a very professional manner.
