To the Editor:
It is my idea and opinion that we should invest the Wiscasset bypass money in a free train. We need trains here and need them now. We should try a two or three year test of free auto train, train service on a regular scale and sailing specials.
I’d love to ride “Downeast” on a Windjammer from Boston or New York. They could have all Maine fleets out of major cities before the rush holidays and extend the business days. Get TV coverage and a brass band and party on. Create a Rail or Sail holiday. After all, Maine has the greatest fleet of Windjammers in the world.
On a negative note – take a long look at the road going up the hill in Wiscasset. Now – why would any person in their right mind invest in another inch of that.
Maine deserves better.
Who is protecting our important blood worm supply? Those shoreline and marsh areas should be absolutely off limits. Protect the best we’ve got.
